How To Make The World Hand You Nearly Anything You Want
Why Respect Is So Friggin Important
Having and commanding an unshakable respect of others is utterly powerful. Being a respected individual is an enormous advantage in life.
You don’t have to put a gun at someone’s face for them to give you everything they’ve got. When you’re respected - doors begin to open, people start buying you dinner and you literally drown in a sea of opportunity.
Respect comes from self-discipline. Being highly self-disciplined gives you the edge. It gives you the advantage, the favored position and the authority over everyone else.
How To Gain Respect?
Respect derives from self-discipline. Just think about someone you admire and respect. Chances are that they have achieved some sort of success in something, and chances are that they have achieved that success by being self-disciplined.
Eben Pagan, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy are just a few people I dearly admire. They have an unbelievable amount of self-discipline. Otherwise they won’t be able to handle all the respect and the opportunity they are provided with.
Eben Pagan for example, is one of the most respected and admired Internet Marketers of all time. This guy is in his mid 30s and he runs a 20 million dollar a year information product business. Imagine the amount of self-discipline you need to possess in order wake up every morning with that kind of responsibility on your shoulders.
It’s very easy to get distracted and overwhelmed by the fruits of success. Just look at Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan for example. But if you were to look at someone like Dan Kennedy, for instance, who is the most respected direct response marketer on the planet right now, you’d notice that he is probably the most self-disciplined guy on Earth. Just pick up one of his Time Management books and you’ll know what I am talking about.
If You Think You Are Self-Disciplined - Think Again!
Majority of humankind live their lives believing they possess self-discipline, but they don’t. For the sake of example I want to refer to Mr. Smith.
Mr. Smith comes back home and confesses to his wife that he violated his diet. When he was coming back from work, he ate a “Snickers” bar.
When Mrs. Smith gives him the old “Crazy Eyes” look, he tries to convince her that he actually demonstrated an enormous amount of self-discipline. As it turns out he wanted to chow down “Twix,” “Mars,” “Hershey’s” and flush it down with a Coke. But instead, he showed some serious balls and got himself Just a “Snickers.”
Yeah! As my good friend Stewie Griffin says: “Whatever Makes You Sleep At Night, B****!”
As funny (or sad) as it might seem, this is a day-to-day reality for most of us. If we want to be Highly Respected and Praised - we need to start showing some serious self-discipline as well as demanding it from people who surround us in our daily lives.
P.S: Mr. and Mrs. Smith are fictional characters. If by any chance there was another Mr. and/or Mrs. Smith reading this article, please note that there was no intent to offend you in any way. But if you were offended - I am sorry.
P.P.S: If you have some funny self-discipline stories (as the one about the Smiths or just something you would like to contribute to the conversation, do not hesitate to leave a comment.
